LAWRENCEBURG, TN — A late Thursday night traffic crash sent two people to regional hospitals after a head-on collision near Lawrence County High School.
Sources indicate a Ford Mustang and a pickup truck collided shortly after 10 p.m. on Springer Road near the front entrance of the high school. Two medical helicopters were called to the scene to transport the injured to regional trauma centers.
Lawrenceburg Fire and Police, Lawrence County EMS, and the Tennessee Highway Patrol responded to the crash and remained on the scene for more than an hour.
The incident came during an unusually busy period for emergency responders across Lawrence County. At roughly the same time, a high-priority medical call in the New Prospect community prompted a response from Lawrence County Fire & Rescue’s New Prospect Station, along with another medical helicopter.
Around 10:30 p.m., Lawrenceburg Fire Department crews were also dispatched to Rotary Park following a report of a vehicle fire.
With multiple emergencies occurring simultaneously and local resources stretched across several incidents, Giles County EMS sent two ambulances into Lawrence County to provide additional coverage.
Additional information regarding the condition of those injured in the Springer Road crash was not immediately available.
