Lawrenceburg Rotary Welcomes 8Oaks Recovery Leaders for An Inspiring Presentation on Faith-Based Healing

LAWRENCEBURG, TN — The Lawrenceburg Rotary Club hosted Pastor David Morgan and Charles Ballard of 8Oaks Recovery at its weekly meeting on May 9, 2025. They gave a powerful presentation on the intersection of mental, spiritual, and emotional healing.

Pastor David Morgan, founder of 8Oaks Recovery and leader of the United Church, shared how the organization was built on the belief that “mental health and spiritual health are sister conditions”. He explained how 8Oaks, now in its third year of operation, provides Christ-centered recovery services for those battling addiction. The ministry currently operates three houses with a total of 45 beds and is planning to expand to 85 beds within six months by opening two additional homes. Morgan also announced the recent launch of an outpatient women’s program, marking an important step in 8Oaks’ continued growth and commitment to serving all in need of recovery.

Charles Ballard, housing director and graduate of the 8Oaks four step program, gave a moving testimony about his personal journey. After spending 26 years in and out of prison, Ballard found purpose and peace through his faith and turning his life over to God. Since joining 8Oaks two and a half years ago, he has helped over 80 men find hope, direction, and healing. Ballard highlighted the various community service projects the program facilitates and emphasized the importance of helping individuals discover their God-given purpose. “We are not just a recovery center,” he said. “We are a community rebuilding lives through service, faith, and love.”

Currently, 8Oaks Recovery employs 13-14 staff members with all of the men having personally completed the program. As a nonprofit, 8Oaks operates with funding from state and private grants plus minimal insurance reimbursements. While the United Church initially provided financial backing, the program is now largely self-sustaining.

The Rotary Club was honored to hear about the life-changing work being done by 8Oaks and looks forward to future partnerships that support recovery and restoration in the community.
