LAWRENCEBURG, TN – Lawrence County’s Ambulance Service is one step closer to operating a fifth unit. Members of the Lawrence County Commission’s Budget Committee approved the motion during its mid-year review Tuesday night. The proposal will allow the county government to fund additional EMTs and paramedics to staff the ambulance on 24-hour shifts at an estimated annual cost of around $260,000. LCEMS currently operates four advanced support ambulances; two are based in Lawrenceburg, one in Loretto, and one in Ethridge. Recent years have seen increasing call volumes for the agency which has led to neighboring counties sending ambulances to assist LCEMS when the number of calls exceeds available local units. Lawrence County EMS answered 6,950 calls for help in 2024, an average of nearly 20 per day. The proposal now heads to the full commission for approval at its next regular session meeting.
