Lawrenceburg Officials to Consider Rezoning Gimlet Road Property for Triplex Development

LAWRENCEBURG, TN — A proposal to rezone more than 53 acres along Gimlet Road will come before the Lawrenceburg Planning Commission and City Council during a series of public meetings in August.

The rezoning application involves a 53.74-acre property located at 196 Gimlet Road, commonly known as Gimlet Park. The land is currently zoned R-2, or Low-Density Residential, and is presently used for agricultural purposes.

The applicant is requesting that the property be rezoned to R-3, or Medium-Density Residential. According to the city’s public notice, the change would allow the property to be developed with smaller residential lots and a greater housing density than is permitted under the current zoning classification.

The proposed development is described as a triplex subdivision, meaning the property could include residential structures containing three separate housing units.

The Lawrenceburg Planning Commission is scheduled to review the rezoning request during its meeting on Thursday, Aug. 6, at 1 p.m.

If the proposal advances, the Lawrenceburg City Council will consider the rezoning on first reading at 9 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 13. A public hearing and second reading are scheduled for 9 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 27.

All three meetings will be held at the Lawrenceburg Municipal Complex, located at 25 Public Square.

The meetings will provide city officials and members of the public with opportunities to review the proposal and discuss its potential effects on the surrounding area. The rezoning must complete the city’s formal review and approval process before the proposed development can move forward.

The case is listed as RZN-26-0004. Additional documents are available through the Lawrenceburg Planning and Development Office. Questions may be directed to the office at 931-629-6856.
