NASHVILLE, TN — Unemployment rates remained below 5% across the southern Middle Tennessee area in July, according to newly released data from the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development.
All but two of Tennessee’s 95 counties reported a decrease in their unemployment rates during the month, reflecting improvement in employment conditions across much of the state.
Locally, Lewis County recorded the highest unemployment rate in the area at 4.5%, followed by Giles County at 4.4% and Maury County at 4.3%.
Lawrence County’s July unemployment rate stood at 4.2%, while Marshall County reported a rate of 4.1%.
Lincoln and Wayne counties each recorded unemployment rates of 3.8%, while Moore County had the lowest rate among the local counties at 3.6%.
The July county unemployment rates for the area were:
- Giles County — 4.4%
- Lawrence County — 4.2%
- Lewis County — 4.5%
- Lincoln County — 3.8%
- Maury County — 4.3%
- Marshall County — 4.1%
- Moore County — 3.6%
- Wayne County — 3.8%
