LAWRENCE COUNTY, TN — A Lawrence County family was displaced Wednesday after a fire caused extensive damage to their mobile home in the West End Fire District.
Lawrence County Fire & Rescue said crews were dispatched to the residential structure fire at approximately 11:42 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26. The first fire unit arrived within five minutes and found smoke and flames coming from the windows and roofline on one side of the home.
Firefighters immediately began an aggressive interior attack and were able to quickly extinguish the blaze before it spread beyond the area where it started.
While the fire was contained, officials said the home sustained extensive smoke and heat damage. No injuries were reported.
Fire officials noted that the home was equipped with working smoke alarms, which successfully alerted the occupants to the fire.
The family has been displaced as a result of the damage. Lawrence County Fire & Rescue said the homeowner has served as a volunteer with the West End Fire Station for a significant period of time.
“We ask that you keep this family in your thoughts and prayers as they navigate through this process,” the department said in its Thursday press release.
