LAWRENCEBURG, TN — A line of storms brought down trees and utility lines across the region today, creating scattered damage and travel issues in parts of southern Tennessee and north Alabama. Several hundred customers were also without power across portions of Tennessee and Alabama for a time as the storms moved through.
In Lawrenceburg, a tree fell onto a home on Second Street, while another tree was reported down along Turnpike Road near the Center community. Utility lines were also reported down near the intersection of Tennessee Highways 157 and 246, where a vehicle became tangled in guy wires.
In Colbert County, officials reported no injuries associated with the storm damage. Trees were reported down on Sanderson Street in Courtland.
In Lawrence County, Alabama, additional trees were reported down along County Road 87 about three miles east of Moulton and on County Road 327 south of Alabama Highway 24 in eastern Lawrence County. Another tree was reported down on Alabama Highway 20 just east of Alabama Highway 101 in Town Creek.
Traffic signals were also reported out at Alabama Highway 24 and Court Street in Moulton.
Utility and road crews worked across the region to restore power, clear roadways, remove debris and address downed lines. Motorists should continue to use caution in affected areas and should never approach downed utility lines.
