LAWRENCEBURG, TN — Visitors to the Lawrence County Public Library will have an opportunity to explore Tennessee’s rich history during the month of August through a special exhibit on loan from the Tennessee State Museum.
The library will host the museum’s “Voices From Tennessee” exhibit throughout August as part of its local observance of America 250, the nationwide commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
The exhibit will be displayed in several areas throughout the library, allowing visitors to learn more about the people, experiences and events that have helped shape Tennessee and the nation.
Library officials said the exhibit is intended to give residents an engaging way to connect with history while reflecting on the many voices and perspectives that make up Tennessee’s story.
Throughout August, the library will also share more detailed information about different portions of the exhibit. Those posts will highlight individual topics, artifacts and historical themes represented in the display, giving community members an opportunity to learn more even before or after visiting the library.
The exhibit was made possible through the assistance of the Tennessee State Museum and Debbie Shaw, the museum’s senior curator of archaeology.
Library officials expressed their appreciation to Shaw and the Tennessee State Museum for allowing the exhibit to be displayed locally.
The Lawrence County Public Library encourages residents of all ages to visit during August, explore the exhibit and take part in the community’s continuing America 250 celebration.
