PULASKI, Tenn. — Tennessee Highway Patrol crisis negotiators worked for hours to bring a barricaded suspect to a peaceful resolution before he set a house on fire early this morning and tried to escape. Law enforcement quickly arrested him, and no one was injured.
The standoff began late last night when the suspect, a convicted felon believed to be armed, barricaded himself inside a Pulaski home after allegedly carjacking a vehicle.
THP negotiators engaged with him for several hours to de-escalate the situation.
As talks continued, the suspect set the house on fire and ran outside, where Giles County deputies arrested him. Two individuals inside the home, exited the residence unharmed before the fire.
Officers from the Pulaski Police Department, Giles County Sheriff’s Office, and Tennessee state troopers maintained a secure perimeter throughout the standoff, keeping neighbors safe
