LAWRENCEBURG, TN – Late Saturday storms left damage and power outages in their wake. 25 to 60 mph wind gusts associated with the thunderstorm line took down a host of limbs and weakened trees across Lawrence and surrounding counties that led to several power outages and some blocked roadways. A host of city streets in Lawrenceburg were blocked for a short time into early Sunday due to tree debris and powerlines while a few county roads saw similar issues, including Buffalo and Fall River Roads. In nearby Athens, Alabama an EF-1 tornado with 100 mph sustained winds touched down and traveled through the city’s historic downtown area. The storm damaged several residential, commercial, and church properties around the Limestone County Courthouse. National Weather Service meteorologists made the determination of the storm’s strength during a survey Sunday afternoon.
