PULASKI, TN – Josh Young, Director of Giles County Emergency Management issued the following on the agency’s Facebook after successful rescue of 83 year old Caulyne Cross on Saturday.
Good Afternoon, everyone!
Now that I’ve had a moment to breathe and the immense weight has been lifted from our community’s shoulders, I want to take a minute to express my deepest gratitude to everyone who helped bring Mrs. Cross home.
First, to our local heroes from Giles County Fire & Rescue, Giles County EMS, Giles County Sheriff’s Department, Pulaski Police Department, Ardmore AL/TN Police Department, and Elkton Police Department. A special shoutout to Heather and Jamie Ayres with the Giles County Rehab Unit and all the people who brought food and drinks to help keep us all hydrated and fed. Thank you!
To the countless citizens who came out in droves, the surrounding counties that sent assistance, and the State assets from THP, TEMA, and TBI who worked tirelessly over long days—I cannot thank each and every one of you enough!
These incredible men and women poured their hearts into the last 5 days.
Director Myers said it best earlier when he mentioned that the last five days and the overwhelming number of resources we had would not have been possible without the last 10-15-20 years of building relationships. These relationships are invaluable in the world of Emergency Management, allowing us to call on one another in times of need and be there when others call on us.
Giles County has faced some tough challenges in recent weeks, and our thoughts and prayers will continue to go out to all those affected.
In closing, many people have asked about the Christian Aid Ministry group and how they became involved. In short, we’ve worked with this amazing group of men and women several times over the years. They are a 501(c)3 non-profit organization with members from Ohio to the Gulf. I’ll post a link to their website if you’d like to learn more. They operate on donations and are always ready to show up and help whenever possible, often at a moment’s notice.
Thank you, everyone. This community is truly something special.
