LAWRENCEBURG, TN — The City of Lawrenceburg has clarified why several previously announced public hearings have been rescheduled and related public notices republished.
City officials say the change stems from the rescheduling of the August City Council meeting, which was originally set for August 13, 2026, before being moved to August 14.
Public notices for several zoning and development matters had already been published based on the original August 13 meeting date. Because state and local requirements mandate that public hearings be advertised within specific notice periods, simply moving the council meeting by one day was not enough to satisfy those requirements.
As a result, the affected notices were republished and the hearings moved to allow the full required public notice period.
The hearings will now be held Thursday, September 10, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. at the Lawrenceburg Municipal Complex, 25 Public Square.
Items scheduled for public hearing include:
- RZN-26-0004 – Gimlet Park Rezoning: A request to rezone approximately 53.74 acres at 196 Gimlet Road from R2 Low-Density Residential to R3 Medium-Density Residential.
- RZN-26-0005 – Trinity Cove Rezoning: A request to rezone approximately 13.31 acres near West Point Road and U.S. Highway 64 from R2 Low-Density Residential to R4 High-Density Residential.
- Ordinance No. 1458 – Residential Zoning Regulation Amendments: Proposed changes to Lawrenceburg’s residential zoning districts and development standards, including the creation of new R5, R6 and R7 zoning districts.
City officials emphasized that the proposed rezoning requests and ordinance amendments themselves have not changed. Only the hearing date was adjusted to ensure compliance with required public notice procedures.
The city said it issued the clarification because residents may have seen the same notices published more than once with different hearing dates.
Anyone interested in the proposals is encouraged to attend the September 10 City Council meeting. Copies of the applicable case files and proposed ordinance are also available for public inspection at the Lawrenceburg Municipal Complex.
