LAWRENCEBURG, TN — The Lawrenceburg City Council will meet Thursday, Sept. 10, at 9 a.m. with several zoning matters, proposed residential developments and major sanitation equipment purchases on the agenda.
The meeting will be held in the Council Meeting Room at the Lawrenceburg Municipal Complex, located at 25 Public Square. Anyone wishing to address the council on an agenda item or another matter within the council’s jurisdiction must sign in before the meeting begins.
Three public hearings are scheduled for Ordinances 1458, 1459 and 1460.
Ordinance 1458, which is scheduled for second reading, would make a series of amendments to the city’s zoning ordinance, including repealing and replacing several existing sections and adding new provisions to the Lawrenceburg Municipal Code.
Council members will also consider the second reading of Ordinance 1459, involving a proposed residential development known as Trinity Cove.
The ordinance would rezone approximately 13.31 acres of vacant property owned by Hill Construction, LLC from R-2 Low Density Residential to R-4 High Density Residential. The property is located along the north side of West Point Road and east of U.S. Highway 64. According to the ordinance, the rezoning would allow the property to be developed into smaller single-family residential lots.
Another public hearing will focus on Ordinance 1460 and the proposed redevelopment of the Gimlet Park property.
The 53.74-acre property at 196 Gimlet Road, owned by 4 Gilliam Properties, LLC, is currently zoned R-2 Low Density Residential. The ordinance would rezone the property to R-3 Medium Density Residential to accommodate smaller lots and increased residential density, including a proposed triplex subdivision.
Ordinance 1460 is also scheduled for second reading.
Council members will additionally consider the first reading of Ordinance 1462 involving property owned by Rebecca and Joshua Dodd along U.S. Highway 43 and White Road.
According to the ordinance, the property is already within the City of Lawrenceburg but was never assigned a zoning classification when it was annexed. The proposal would establish the property as C-2 Highway Services District.
The property currently contains a daycare facility and is proposed to be divided into two lots. The northern lot would continue operating as a daycare, while the southern lot is proposed for general retail use.
A public hearing on Ordinance 1462 is scheduled for Sept. 24.
The council will also consider a resolution authorizing the Lawrenceburg Sanitation Department to purchase several pieces of equipment, including a 2025 Peterbilt front-load garbage truck, three 2027 Peterbilt automated residential garbage trucks, a 2025 Freightliner boom truck, a Cat 275 skid steer and a GMC three-quarter-ton crew cab pickup.
A separate resolution would declare certain Sanitation Department property as surplus.
The Lawrenceburg City Council meeting is open to the public.
