COLUMBIA, TN — Maury County firefighters used a rope rescue system Saturday evening to bring a person to safety after they fell down an embankment near Columbia.
The Maury County Fire Department said crews were dispatched to Carpenters Bridge Road around 5:56 p.m. Saturday, August 15. Rescue 21, Truck 21 and Deputy 20 responded to the scene.
Firefighters positioned a staff vehicle near the river’s edge to serve as an anchor and established a 3-to-1 haul system. The patient was secured in a Stokes basket before crews carefully pulled them back to the top of the embankment.
While the rescue operation was underway, firefighters also established a landing zone for Air Evac Lifeteam 09 from Lewisburg.
The fire department did not immediately release additional information regarding the patient’s condition or the circumstances surrounding the fall.
