LAWRENCEBURG, TN — The Lawrence County School System is preparing to welcome students back to the classroom for the beginning of the 2026–2027 school year on Monday, August 3.
As families make their final preparations, school officials are reminding parents and students about several important changes, dates and safety precautions.
All Lawrence County students will receive free breakfast and lunch throughout the school year through the federal Community Eligibility Provision, commonly known as CEP. Families will not be required to complete an application or submit additional paperwork for students to receive the meals.
School officials are also urging motorists to use additional caution as buses return to the roads and students begin walking to and from school.
Drivers should reduce their speed in school zones and residential neighborhoods, remain alert for children near roadways and always stop when a school bus has its red lights flashing and stop arm extended.
The school system has also announced that Friday, August 7, will be a half-day for students.
Parents and guardians are encouraged to download or print a copy of the district’s 2026–2027 academic calendar, which includes holidays, breaks, professional development days and other important dates.
The calendar and additional back-to-school updates are available through the Lawrence County School System’s website at lcss.us.
School officials said they are looking forward to a joyful and successful beginning to the new academic year for students, teachers, staff members and families across Lawrence County.
