James L. Woodard, age 87, of Franklin, Tennessee passed away February 6, 2025. Jim was a 1956 graduate of Lawrence County High School. Following service in the United States Army, he graduated from Middle Tennessee State University and Nashville YMCA Night Law School. He enjoyed the practice of law in Franklin for fifty years, retiring in 2023 when his health declined.
Jim was predeceased by his wife, Amy Pamplin Woodard; his parents, Sam and Inez Perry Woodard; and his brother, Wiley Edwin (Bud) Woodard.
He is survived by his sister-in-law, Catherine Seigenthaler; niece, Lindsay Seigenthaler; his former wives, Sue Clary and Joyce Heitschmidt; his former stepson, Ron Dennis; and his three beloved dogs, Bentley, Blu, and Bo Bear.
Sincere appreciation is extended to Dr. Anne Gifford, Alison Davis, and the entire staff of NHC Place Cool Springs for the compassionate care provided to Jim, to long-term personal friend, Dr. Winston H. Griner, to Dr. Woody and Alix for their extended accommodation of the pups, and to Carrie Holt for tirelessly facilitating Jim’s relationship with Bentley, Blu, and Bo Bear during his illness.
Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM Sunday, February 09, 2025, at Neal Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at Neal Funeral Home at 2:00 PM Sunday, February 09, 2025, with Chad Moore officiating.
